Christopher Chan of Roxbury, Julio Picallo of Stanhope and Jason Lorenz of Hopatcong awarded Paul Harris Fellows by the Rotary Club of The Skylands on November 15.

The presentation of Paul Harris Fellow recognition is The Rotary Foundation's way of expressing its appreciation for a substantial contribution to its humanitarian and educational programs. It is named for Rotary’s founder, Paul Harris, a Chicago lawyer who started Rotary International with three business associates in 1905.

“The Paul Harris Fellow is one of Rotary’s highest honors,” remarked Past Skylands Rotary Club President Mark Hartmann who presented the awards. “It’s an opportunity to recognize Rotarians and community members for significant contributions to making the world a better place for all.”

Chan, a Creative Director for a Morris County-based software company, was recognized for assistance to the Club in the development of marketing materials before and after he joined Rotary in August 2021. Chan lives in Roxbury with his wife Kristi Cutting and the couples 12-year-old son Collin.

Stanhope resident Picallo is the Spanish and English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher for the Netcong Public School. Picallo has been instrumental in helping the Club’s emergency food bank located at Netcong Borough Hall reach members of the Spanish-speaking community. Mayor Joe Nametko and Netcong Councilman Bob Hathaway, also Club members, provided kind remarks about how Picallo’s contributions have put food in the hands of those who need it the most.

Lorenz is a Design Engineer for a Rockaway, NJ-based Microwave Electronics firm joined Rotary in August 2021. Lorenz served the Chairperson of the Club’s November 5 Harvestfest event at Jersey Girl Brewery.
